Want Your Leather Bag to Last a Lifetime? Just Do These 3 Things
A leather bag tells a story. But neglect it, and it won’t be a good one. Cracks, stains, and stiff, lifeless leather. Treat it right, and it’ll age like fine wine—better with time. Here’s how.
1 Keep it clean: leather absorbs dirt and oil. Wipe it down with a soft cloth every few days. A couple of times a year, use a leather cleaner—small circles, light touch, no excess water.
2 Condition it: dry leather cracks. Conditioner keeps it soft. Rub in a small amount with a cloth twice a year, or monthly if you live in a dry climate.
3 Store it right: stuff it with parchment paper, not newspaper. Keep it in a dust bag, not shoved in a corner. Air it out now and then.
